Privacy policy
Last updated: 1 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data Beely collects, why, who else handles it and what your rights are. It covers the Beely website (beely.livra.uk), the Beely iPhone app and the web version of the app.
Who we are
Beely is a product of Livra Technologies Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales with number 17210974, registered office 17 Beaulands Close, Cambridge, CB4 1JA, United Kingdom. We are the controller of your personal data. We are registered with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), registration number ZC241946.
Privacy questions and requests: [email protected]. We have not appointed a data protection officer, as the law does not require one for us.
What we collect and why
| What | Data | Why, and on what legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Website waitlist | Your email address and the language you chose | To tell you when Beely is available. Based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. |
| Your account | Email address (or the private relay address from Sign in with Apple), the name you enter, your password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form) and sign-in sessions | To create your account and keep it secure. Needed to provide the service (contract). |
| Your money entries | Spending, income (including recurring income), account and investment balances, transfers, settle-ups, categories, card names, currencies and exchange rates, notes, and how each amount is split | To show your totals, savings, net worth and who owes whom, and to sync them between your devices. Needed to provide the service (contract). |
| Apple Pay automation (iPhone, optional) | For each Apple Pay payment: the amount, the shop name as Apple Wallet gives it, and which of your cards was used | To log the payment without you typing it, only if you set up the Shortcut. Needed to provide the feature you turned on (contract). You can switch it off in the Shortcuts app at any time. |
| Shared spaces | The names of the people in a space, their role, and the entries marked as shared | To work out who owes whom. Needed to provide the service (contract). |
| Technical data | IP address, device and browser type, and request logs kept by our hosting providers | To deliver the app and website and protect them from abuse. Our legitimate interest in running a secure service. |
| Paid plans and free trial | When your free trial ends, whether you have Beely Plus or a Founding pass, the last product bought and until when it is paid. Never your card details | To give you the features you paid for. Needed to provide the service (contract), and to meet tax law. |
| Messages to us | What you write to us, and your email address | To answer you. Our legitimate interest in supporting our users. |
We do not ask for bank logins, we do not connect to your bank, we do not sell your data, and the app shows no ads. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers today. If that changes we will update this page first and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent. We do not make decisions about you by automated means.
Personal spending stays private
A spend that is only yours and that you pay from your own money is not shown to the other person in your shared space. They only see a monthly total per category and account, so the shared sums still add up, but never the date, the amount of a single spend or your note. Income that is in your name and that you mark as "only I see this" works the same way. This rule is enforced on our server, not just in the app.
A personal spend paid with shared money is visible to the other person, because it changes what each of you owes.
Data about other people
When you add someone to a shared space, you give us their name and the amounts you split with them, even if they never install Beely. Please only do this with people who know you are using Beely to keep track of money with them. If they join the space they will see this policy. Anyone whose data is in Beely can contact us to use the rights described below.
Data on your device
So that Beely works without a connection, the app keeps a copy of your entries and your sign-in session on your device (in the app's storage, or in your browser's storage on the web version). It stays there until you sign out, use "Reset this phone" in the app, or delete the app. Keep your device protected with a passcode.
Cookies and similar technologies
We do not set any cookies on the Beely website, and we use no analytics, advertising or tracking tools. The only thing the website keeps in your browser is the language you pick with the EN/ES button, so we can show it again next time. In the app (iPhone and web version) your browser or phone stores your sign-in session and a copy of your entries so that Beely works offline. These are needed for the service to work or are something you asked for, so we do not need your consent for them, and you can clear them at any time (see "Data on your device" above).
If we ever add analytics, advertising or anything else that is not strictly necessary, we will update this page first and ask for your consent before using it.
Who else handles your data
We use these providers to run Beely. They act on our instructions and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Supabase: stores your account and entries so they sync between devices, and the emails on our waitlist. Data region: Ireland (AWS eu-west-1).
- Cloudflare: hosts the website and the web version of the app, and sees IP addresses as part of delivering them.
- Apple: Sign in with Apple, the App Store and, when paid plans launch, payment. We do not see your card details.
- Frankfurter (frankfurter.dev, exchange rates from the European Central Bank): your device asks it for rates directly, so it sees your IP address plus the currencies and dates requested, and nothing else.
- Account emails (confirmation and password reset): sent through Resend (resend.com), which sees the address it writes to and the message.
- RevenueCat: manages subscriptions and tells us what you have paid for. It receives your Beely account identifier (a random code, not your name or email) and your purchase status, not your entries.
Transfers outside the UK
Some of these providers (for example Supabase, Resend, Cloudflare, Apple and RevenueCat) are based in, or process data in, the United States or other countries. Where they do, we rely on UK adequacy regulations (including the UK–US data bridge for certified companies) or on the International Data Transfer Agreement or UK Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses. For Supabase, Resend and Cloudflare, these safeguards are part of the data processing agreement we have with each of them, and your entries are stored in Ireland. RevenueCat also handles your data under a data processing agreement that includes the standard contractual clauses and the UK Addendum. Apple provides the App Store, payments and Sign in with Apple as an independent company, under its own privacy policy and its own international transfer safeguards.
How long we keep it
- Waitlist emails: until we have told you Beely is live, or until you unsubscribe, whichever comes first.
- Account and entries: until you delete them. See how to delete your account for exactly what goes and what stays.
- Shared spaces: if you delete your account while someone else is still in a shared space, your private spending and your membership are deleted. The shared entries stay in the space, because they are also part of the other person's records. If you were the only member, the whole space is deleted.
- Backups: we do not currently keep separate backups of your data, so deleted data is gone once it is deleted. If we add backups we will update this page first.
- Subscription records: as long as tax law requires (six years in the UK).
- Messages to us: as long as needed to deal with them, and no longer than 2 years afterwards.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, delete or take a copy of your data, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Most of this you can do yourself in the app: Settings → Data and backups → Export a backup, and Settings → Your account → Delete my account. For anything else, email [email protected]. We answer within one month.
You can complain to the UK ICO (ico.org.uk). If you live in the EU you can also complain to your local authority, for example the AEPD in Spain (aepd.es). We would appreciate the chance to sort it out with you first.
Security
How we protect your data is described on our security page.
Children
Beely is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we will update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before the change applies.
